Phaser Array Power Distribution (Deck 12)

This compartment is dominated by a bank of six massive capacitor housings arranged in two facing rows down the length of the room, each housing a cylindrical structure nearly as tall as a person, finished in a dark bronze-toned alloy and ringed with a series of small viewports that glow with a steady, pulsing white-orange light whenever the array is charged for firing. Thick power trunks, considerably heavier than standard EPS conduit, connect each capacitor to a central distribution manifold running along the compartment's centerline, its surface studded with heavy junction couplings and marked with black-and-yellow hazard striping at every connection point.
A raised monitoring station sits at the far end of the room, a simple waist-high console angled to face back down the length of the capacitor rows, its LCARS display tracking charge levels across all six units in a row of vertical bar indicators that fill and empty in near-continuous fluctuation during active tactical operations. The overhead is crossed by heavy cable trays carrying the routed output toward the dorsal and ventral phaser strip conduits, the trays themselves vibrating faintly and audibly humming during a full power cycle.
The room is noticeably warmer than the surrounding corridors, and the air carries a sharp, persistent ozone smell far stronger than in the general weapons spaces nearby. Lighting is minimal and functional, a handful of caged fixtures set high on the walls rather than a full ceiling grid, leaving much of the illumination to come from the capacitor viewports themselves, which cast a slow, shifting amber-white glow across the deck plating below. A deep resonant hum underlies the compartment at all times, rising to an audible whine during a firing sequence and settling back into its low background pulse within moments of the discharge.
