Chief of Security's Office (Deck 14)

The chief of security's office is a modest, rectangular compartment with a single desk of dark composite positioned facing the door, angled slightly so its occupant has a clear line of sight down the corridor beyond whenever the door slides open. The desk surface holds a recessed LCARS terminal built flush into the material rather than a separate monitor, currently displaying a quiet standby pattern of slowly shifting amber lines, along with a small stand holding a data slate and a neatly stacked pair of hardcopy incident reports.
Behind the desk, a wall-mounted display shows a real-time schematic of the security section's key spaces, brig occupancy, armory access status, and phaser range availability represented as small color-coded icons that update automatically. A single shelf beside the display holds a modest collection of personal effects and a small trophy or memento, understated compared to the more elaborate keepsakes found in other officers' quarters. Two simple visitor chairs sit opposite the desk, upholstered in the same charcoal fabric found throughout the ship's utilitarian offices, positioned close enough together to suggest the room rarely hosts large meetings.
The lighting is slightly dimmer and cooler than a typical department office, a deliberate touch that keeps the wall display's indicator lights easily legible at a glance. The walls are unadorned pale grey composite, and the room is quiet, insulated from the more active hum of the nearby armory and brig by a solid interior bulkhead. The air carries only the faint, clean smell common to most administrative spaces aboard, and the room's overall impression is one of careful, watchful order rather than comfort.
