The brig occupies a wide corridor-like compartment lined on one side with four identical holding cells, each sealed by a shimmering amber-tinted forcefield that hums at a noticeably higher pitch than the standard security fields found elsewhere on the ship, a visual and audible signal of its Level-10 containment rating. Each cell is a plain rectangular space furnished with two simple built-in benches along the back wall, wide enough to serve as both seating and a sleeping surface, and a small alcove containing a basic sanitary unit partially shielded by a low modesty wall rather than a full door. The interior walls of each cell are a flat, seamless composite in an unadorned pale grey, deliberately free of any protrusion or fixture that could be misused. Opposite the cells, a raised operations desk sits behind a waist-high console, angled to give a clear line of sight down the full row of holding areas. The console's surface holds individual forcefield status indicators for each cell in a simple vertical row, currently showing a uniform green standby glow, alongside a small secondary display tracking biosign readings for any occupied cell. A single high-backed chair sits behind the desk, and a narrow supply cabinet against the near wall holds restraint devices and basic first-aid equipment in clearly labeled compartments. The lighting throughout the brig is even and slightly cooler in tone than the corridor outside, with a subtly brighter wash directed into each cell to eliminate shadowed corners. The air carries a faint ozone smell from the active forcefields, more noticeable near the cells themselves, and the ambient sound is dominated by the persistent hum of the containment fields, occasionally joined by a soft chime from the operations console marking a routine status check.
