Personnel Transporter Room
Created by Captain Natira Dareese on Tue Sep 22nd, 2026 @ 8:22pm
Personnel transporter rooms are placed in pairs throughout the ship's hull sections; the two on Deck 4 - Transporter Rooms 1 and 2, port and starboard - are typical examples serving the saucer section.
The room is dominated by a raised, hexagonal platform set into a shallow alcove at the far end, its six-person capacity marked by faint circular markings spaced evenly around the platform's surface. The alcove walls curve gently inward above the platform, ringed at shoulder height by a band of soft blue-white light.
A single control console faces the platform from a slightly elevated position to one side, its surface holding vertical slider controls and a small circular display showing the currently locked coordinates. The console operator's position looks directly across the platform, broken only by the alcove's curve, a narrow door in the side wall leading to a small transporter head - a single sonic-shower-and-lavatory unit for crew immediately arriving from or departing for extended assignments - and a small viewport set into the wall above the console offering a narrow glimpse of open space beyond the hull, a common feature of the ship's standard transporter room design.
The floor in front of the platform is a slightly darker grey than the platform itself, and overhead lighting is bright and even. When active, the platform floor dissolves into a fine, fast-moving shimmer of light accompanied by a rising hum and a soft chime at the moment of transport, fading to silence as the room settles back to its resting state.
Notable Variants
Transporter Rooms 3 & 4 (Deck 14): A standard pair serving crew working in the aft engineering section, functionally and visually identical to the ship's other main transporter facilities in every respect, down to the warm ambient lighting and faint lingering ozone smell.
Emergency Transporter Room 1 (Deck 10): A small, spartan compartment near the forward shuttlebay complex, wired for outbound (send-only) evacuation use rather than routine transport. The six pads sit on a platform only a few centimeters off the deck, ringed with plain anti-slip tread instead of ornamental molding, and the console is a stripped-down panel showing simple pad-occupancy indicators rather than a full targeting readout. Harsh, unshaded overhead lighting throws sharp shadows, and with no pattern buffer housing or waiting area, the room reads as strictly functional -- a placard beside the console plainly marks its emergency/evacuation designation.
Emergency Transporter Pads (Deck 3): Sits beside the SIF generator compartment and holds two transporter alcoves side by side rather than the usual single pad, built for rapid Marine deployment. A single shared console with mirrored controls serves both platforms at once, and the room favors speed and volume over comfort -- wide aisles, bright lighting, floor arrows guiding rapid loading, and no seating anywhere.
