Main Mess Hall (Deck 7)

The main mess hall occupies the forward central spine of the deck, the primary dining facility for the ship's crew. A wide double door opens onto a large, high-ceilinged room filled with long communal tables arranged in even rows, each seating eight to ten with simple bench-style seating rather than individual chairs.
Just inside the entrance, four day heads open off a short alcove to one side, their doors marked with simple pictographic signage. Along the far wall, a long row of replicator terminals serves the hall directly, each with its own small waiting queue mark on the floor in worn but visible paint.
The walls are a practical, hard-wearing grey-beige, hung at intervals with simple mission patches and crew photographs in plain frames. Overhead, the lighting is bright and even, brighter than the Main Lounge on Deck 6 but without its warmth. The floor is a hard, easily-cleaned composite rather than carpet.
The room is the loudest communal space on the ship at peak hours - the clatter of trays, overlapping conversation, and the periodic chime of replicator terminals completing an order all carry easily off the hard walls and floor, settling into a low, layered background roar during full shifts and falling to near silence between them.
