Sensor Control Room (Deck 8)

The room is arranged like a scaled-down operations center, windowless and dim except for the glow of its own displays. A curved bank of consoles occupies the forward half of the room, angled to face a large shared status board mounted on the forward bulkhead - a wide screen divided into sensor-return panels showing lateral array coverage, sensor pallet orientation, and long-range contact tracks in the ship's standard blue-and-amber LCARS scheme.
Each console seat has its own high-backed chair, worn smooth on the armrests from use, and a personal display that can be slaved to any of the ship's sensor arrays independently of the shared board. Thin cable conduits run along the base of each console rather than overhead, feeding back to a data trunk visible through a floor grate along the aft wall.
The walls are a dark charcoal-grey composite, chosen deliberately to reduce glare against the bright console displays, and the overhead lighting is kept low and cool-toned, more like a starship's bridge at night-watch than a typical lab or office. A secondary door leads directly to an access corridor for the sensor pallet housings themselves, and a faint electronic hum from the array control hardware is a constant undertone in the room.
When fully staffed the room stays quiet and focused - low voices, the soft click of console inputs, and the occasional chime as a sensor pallet completes a reorientation cycle. During slow periods a single technician can run the room alone, the rest of the consoles dark and the room correspondingly dimmer and quieter still.
