Isokinetic Cannon Control Room (Deck 9)

The room is small, heavily reinforced, and built around a single centered firing console unlike anything else on the ship - a broad, angled targeting station with twin handgrips and a dedicated firing trigger guarded by a hinged safety cover. The console's main display renders a real-time targeting solution overlay, range and yield calculations updating continuously in sharp red-tinted text distinct from the ship's usual amber LCARS scheme, a deliberate visual cue for a weapons-critical station.
Behind the primary console, a secondary bank of support stations tracks capacitor charge state, EPS power diversion levels, and structural stress on the cannon's ventral mount, each display bordered in the same red accent. Thick armored conduit, far heavier than standard EPS runs elsewhere on the ship, disappears through a reinforced bulkhead toward the capacitor banks flanking the room.
The walls are noticeably thicker here than in adjoining compartments, faced in a dull, matte grey composite selected for its resistance to EM interference rather than appearance, and the deck is more heavily braced underfoot - a structural response to the recoil stresses the mount transmits through the hull during firing. A retractable blast shield can drop across the console from an overhead housing, though it stays open during normal operations.
The room stays quiet under normal conditions, a low hum from the idle capacitor banks the only sound, but firing the cannon produces a sharp, felt vibration through the deck plating and a brief power fluctuation that dims the room's lighting for a fraction of a second as the capacitors discharge.
